Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow

National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM and Explore STEM are immersive Envision programs that make hands-on educational experiences fun! Elementary and middle schoolers can join other passionate students from across the country to explore careers in the exciting fields of medicine, robotics, civil engineering, and forensic science.

Students will leave with new friends, big ideas for their futures, and a better understanding of their abilities. Future innovators, engineers, doctors, and detectives start here!

National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): STEM Programs

“What an amazing experience! Everything was well organized and well done! This was a trip of a lifetime and my youngest will take this trip as well. I wouldn’t even think twice.”

—Nicole, parent of Washington, D.C. & Colonial Virginia participant

At Pathways to STEM, students learn by doing during six days of hands-on simulations and multidisciplinary workshops that include three key STEM strands: engineering, CSI, and medicine.

Engineering: Future engineers gain an understanding of the design process as they build and program an mBOT robot - which they can take home & keep learning!

CSI: As future crime solvers and forensic detectives, students will apply math and science-based skills and use fun chemistry concepts to unlock clues in an actual case.

Medicine: Prospective medical interns dissect a cow heart and learn about the human body. Students will also practice medical techniques during a realistic simulation that was created in collaboration with industry experts.

The Envision Experience

Envision by WorldStrides is committed to well-rounded, real-world-applicable education. All of our programs are designed by industry experts to help young learners identify their interests and gain the skills they need to make their dreams a reality

NYLF STEM programs follow a three-tier curricular approach that includes the Academy, Lab, and Arena.

Academy

Students solidify new skills and concepts through immersive learning and exploration.

Your elementary schooler will...

  • Learn the principles of engineering design
  • Examine and discover human anatomy, with a focus on the heart
  • Discover the building blocks of forensic science

Your middle schooler will...

  • Explore Robotics: Program a robot to complete a task
  • Explore Medicine: Learn to administer splints and control hemorrhaging
  • Explore Civil Engineering: Design one section of a habitat
  • Explore Forensic Science: Conduct analysis of fingerprints & blood stain patterns

Lab

Students build creativity and critical thinking abilities by participating in dynamic hands-on simulations.

Your elementary schooler will...

  • Build and program an mBot robot
  • Participate in a beef heart dissection
  • Crack a case using blood splatter and fingerprint analysis

Your middle schooler will...

  • Galaxy Labs Robotics: Use a variety of sensors to program your Mars Rover
  • Galaxy Lab Medicine: Create plans and prototypes to keep colonists safe
  • Galaxy Lab Civil Engineering: Ideate and prototype a habitat using CAD software
  • Galaxy Lab Forensic Science: Complete the investigation

Arena

Students have the opportunity to shine among their peers while presenting solutions and competing in a public platform.

Your elementary schooler will...

  • Present their learnings from the week in a courtroom simulation with advisors acting as judge and jury

Your middle schooler will...

  • Create and deliver final presentations on solutions and prototypes

Program tuition starting at $2,195 for day sessions and $2,595 for residential sessions*

Scholarships, payment plans, and fundraising options are available.

Sample Residential Schedule:

Meet new friends and get the Mission to Mars started.

Program a VEX robot to act as a Mars rover that can move with precision, avoid obstacles, and act on command.

Practice clinical skills in a true-to-life emergency – it could happen here or on the terrain of Mars.

Investigate a staged crime scene using proper techniques and preserving chain of custody.

Use CAD software to design a habitat capable of sustaining life on Mars.

Finish up the Galaxy Labs and look toward the future.

  • All curriculum and instruction

  • Program activities

  • Overnight housing (residential students only)

  • Program materials

  • Three meals and a snack each day for residential students and lunch and a snack each day for day students

  • Certificate of Completion

Explore STEM: Grades 6-8

The STEM fields come to life at Explore STEM through hands-on simulations and multidisciplinary workshops that include four key STEM strands: medicine, robotics, civil engineering and forensic science.

As part of the simulated “Mission to Mars,” students take on the role of interplanetary health officials, use robotics to program a rover, design and construct a habitat capable of sustaining human life, and launch an investigation. Then, students take a deeper dive into the STEM strand of their choice as they take their mission to the next step through specialized Galaxy Lab projects.

To help with the simulation and provide added motivation to pursue their passions, the students are also treated to a keynote session with a former NASA astronaut!
